Being a homosexual is not a lifestyle, it is not a sexual orientation, it is not a romantic preference. It is a marketing, networking, and career move. Michael Sam is no exception, but a part of the rule of well-known or celebrity people who engage in sodomist acts with other men.
Why is it that famous people feel the need to make such a big deal out of their sexual afflictions and proclivities? Anderson Cooper, Jason Collins, Michael Sam, Ellen Page, the list goes on and on.
What reason is there to admit that you are a sodomite. And no, sodomite is not "offensive," but accurate by legal, religious, and social definitions. Should you chose to read it as offensive because you need to serve your own agenda of victimhood, that is your prerogative.
Michael Sam's overly orchestrated and poorly acted out skit of sucking face with his White boyfriend on national television was not a moment of romance but instead a calculated and rehearsed part of the packaging of the NFL's first sodomist. Because you see, Michael sam didn't have a spur of the moment emotional response with someone he loved, he was acting and the proof is now irrefutable.
The OWN, Oprah Winfrey Network, sent out a press release announcing their deal to document the life and path of Michael Sam:
"We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever,” said Winfrey in the release. “I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format. The next real-life story we follow in ‘The Untitled Michael Sam Project’ promises to spark valuable, important discussion on life in America today. Acceptance and illumination start here.”
“Like every player out there working to make a team right now, my focus is on playing football to the very best of my ability,” Sam said in the release. "I am determined. And if seeing my story helps somebody else accept who they are and to go for their dreams too, that’s great. I am thankful to Oprah for her support and excited to work together.”
According to Yahoo News, writers, players, and other figures who once supported Michael Sam.
"Michael Sam? He's doing some of it to himself. Certainly noise was going to happen around Sam regardless, even if he hadn't kissed his boyfriend after being drafted, live on ESPN and then in a picture posted to Twitter of him kissing his boyfriend's cake-smeared face. Michael Sam is the first openly gay player in the most popular sports league in this country: He doesn't need any help generating noise.
Deadspin says:
"He is another packaged product being sold to us at heavy markup—commodified smarm at best, and at worst something downright cynical, something that leverages real emotions in service of a marketing strategy. No one wants to find out that Lou Gehrig's farewell speech was copywritten by a dude at Pfizer.
ESPN's Jason Whitlock says:
"It all feels orchestrated now: the draft-day kiss; the cake-covered face; the tears; the celebration that conveniently captured just Sam, his boyfriend and his two agents; and even the "Stand with Sam" T-shirts selling onmichaelsam.com.
Who knew a reality TV show was being filmed? Who knew Sam's agents (Cameron Weiss and Joe Barkett) and publicist (Howard Bragman) had cut deals to be producers on the reality TV show?
This is all scripted and amateur. And devious, too."
